Aquia Harbour volunteer Rescue Squad is celebrating 36 years of volunteer service to Aquia Harbour and Stafford County. In that time, we have gone from only first response in a refurbished sheriff’s cruiser to a fully stocked Advanced Life Support ambulance. Since 2007 a fire engine has been staffed 24/7 by county career firefighters. Our volunteers spend their spare time training and running duty and helping at community outreach events. Many missed holidays and kid football, soccer and basketball games, so that the ambulance would be staffed to answer the 911 calls. Our volunteers have served several hundreds of thousands of hours of service to the community.
While the Squad’s first due area is up here in northeast Stafford, our unit could be sent anywhere in the County if the need arises. You will see our units down on Rt.17, on Courthouse Road or at Lake Arrowhead. Just as you see other units in Aquia Harbour, when we are already answering another call. New generations are learning that the time spent as a volunteer EMT could eventually lead to a career, not just in emergency services but any health care profession. We could not have done it without your support, and we thank you. The picture gallery on our website shows our early years.
