month I want to highlight some of our members. Many of the names you may recognize from past articles.

Rescue Chief- Angela Wilhelm. This is Angela’s 16th year with the squad. She started as a teenager earning her EMT- B and firefighter certifications. She has served as Membership secretary, Training Lt., President and Rescue Chief. She is currently serving as the President of the Stafford County Fire Rescue Association which is an advisory group for the County Fire Chief.

Patricia Copeland is a National Registry and Virginia certified Paramedic. She has been with the squad for 31 years. She has also served in many squad positions, Membership and Recording Secretary, Training Lt., Rescue Chief and Board member. Patricia also serves on the Critical Incident Stress management Team. She works closely with the County Chaplains group on large incidents.

Matt Heindrichs has been with the squad since 2017 and brings several years of experience with him having served with the Virginia Tech Volunteer Rescue Squad while in college. He still goes back to run duties during the football season. He is an Advanced – EMT currently in school for his paramedic certification. He is our current 1st Lt. and is serving his third term as treasurer. He has also served as Training Lt. Matt was named Volunteer Officer of the Year for 2022 at the Stafford County Fire Rescue Awards dinner last month.

Justin Carrasquillo joined just last summer and is already a National Registry EMT-B and EVOC driver. He is working on earning his paramedic certification. Justin is currently serving in the Marines at Quantico but still finds time to volunteer.
There are many other members of the squad volunteering each month to staff our ambulances and answer 911 calls. They volunteer over 1000 hours a month to the community each month.
