February is American Heart Month.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US. 1 out of 4 death is caused by Heart cardiovascular disease. It is the number 1 killer of women, more than all forms of cancer combined. For February GO RED

G – get your numbers; cholesterol, blood pressure, weight, etc.
O – own your health. Stop smoking, lose weight, exercise
R – realize your risk. We don’t think it will happen to us, but heart disease kills unexpectedly.
E – educate your family. Make healthy choices for you and your family
D – Don’t be silent. Tell everyone you know woman or man that this is our No. 1 killer.

CPR is a great tool/skill to know but it is after the damage is done. Take steps to prevent having to do CPR or worse, it having to be performed on you.
The squad has a kids program named “Save Your Heart For Love”; a first aid mini course for kids. It taught children the first aid basics. Above are the first aid basics for your heart and future.
The squad will be at the Kids Expo at the Fredericksburg expo center on Sunday February 9th. Hope to see you there. Stop by and say “hello.”

As always the Volunteers at the Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue Squad appreciate your support.
