Heart Month 2024 is a month-long initiative focused on heart health and cardiovascular disease prevention. It aims to educate individuals about the importance of maintaining a healthy heart and making lifestyle choices that support cardiovascular well-being. Heart disease remains a leading cause of death worldwide, and this observance seeks to reduce its impact through awareness and action.
The Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire companies with Stafford County Fire Rescue sponsored Hands only CPR training at various stations on Saturday February 10th.
It takes about 15 minutes to learn and practice the steps for Hands only CPR. Evidence shows that when CPR is started early in cardiac arrest, the patient has a better chance of a positive outcome. Spread the word bring your family, your scout group, bridge partner, you get the idea. Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere so be prepared.
Congratulations are in order for several of our members.
Nick Henderson and Sergio Alvarez have finished their preceptorship and been released to act as an Attendant in Charge. The means they can be in charge on the ambulance.
Also 4 our members finished the EMT class last month and have passed the National Registry EMT exam and are now Virginia certified EMTs.
Congrats to Jordyn Lemire, Autumn Sinclair, Ava Warren, Allison Hogan. Great Job!
