First of all, thank you to everyone who took part in the activities at National Night Out. Undeterred by the thunderstorm, members ran for shelter like everyone else, while the storm passed and then got back to work. Some of our members assisted with the events at Lions Field, even taking a turn at the grill. Other members were at Stafford Marketplace fitting free bike helmets and teaching the kids the hand signals. The Squad fitted over 450 helmets.
This night is s great opportunity for the community to get to know the local law enforcement officers and Fire/Rescue personnel. It was a time to examine the equipment available in our community. The kids could even don fire gear and crawl through confined space and use the hoses to out a “fire.” I know, we were on the other side of the “fire” and got sprayed too, if the target was missed. All in a night of education and fun!
If you are on the bike or walking, make sure you can be seen by drivers on the road. Wear a reflective vest or gear. Reflectors should be on the bike, too. Black may be chic, but if the driver cannot see you, there can be terrible consequences. Be Safe, Be Seen!
School is starting so slow down and watch for children! Thank you for your support.
