EMS WEEK May 18-24, 2014

I want to set the record straight on the staffing of the ambulances at Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue Squad. All of our members are volunteers and only volunteers staff the ambulance. Stafford County has full time crews to staff the fire engine housed at our station.
May means EMS Week, May 18th – May 24th. On Saturday May 17th from 10am-12noon the squad will again be presenting its first aid mini course for children “Save Your Heart for Love” in the Kohl’s parking lot at Stafford Market place. The children walk between the stations to learn about the proper use of 911, how to help someone who is choking, bandaging and how to stop bleeding, poison prevention, bike safety, fire safety with the fire engine present (as long as it is not on calls), and free bike helmets. Cost is $5 per family payable the day of the event, but no child will be turned away. Parents are encouraged to walk through the stations with their children. You can register by emailing me at cschoon@ahvrs.org. Please leave the children’s names and age when registering. Put Save Your Heart for Love in the subject line.
This program started back in the early 90’s providing learning and fun for the children.
See our webpage for pictures of past events. www.ahvrs.org
Hope to see you there.
